Color Care Across America

Color Care Across America, the U.S. Conference of Mayors and Benjamin Moore have put a fresh coat of paint on the entrance, hallways and common area’s of the Sylvia Center. We are grateful to the Finishing Contractors Association of Chicago and the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America for doing all the work. Chicago artist, Matthew Lew, donated a four piece art installation reflecting the seasons in the city.
The beautiful renovation and artwork provided an emotional lift for our residents and staff! Thank you!

Email from a neighborhood resident.

“Hi,
I was wondering if you still had the food give away on Wednesdays, if not do you know how I can get a referral to a food pantry?
I have been off work for a month after getting hurt and have no income, things are getting pretty bleak and I could use some help.
I thought of Cornerstone because my son and I once stayed there and I have never forgot the kindness you showed him and I.
Thank you”

The answer is Yes!
Because of your food donations and financial contributions, Cornerstone does.  The doors open at 9:30 and we distribute till around 11:30.  Almost 300 people come each week to pick up donated food items.  Canned veggies, cereals, and fresh fruits and vegetables, and many various items of the day are given out.  You will see a line every Wednesday morning of people waiting for us to open.  It is a blessing to be able to help those in need.
