“Running a marathon is hard, but being homeless is harder.” – Patrick McCormack, long time runner.
The 29 members of Team CCO 2012 are training hard for this years Bank of America Chicago Marathon. So far, the runners have made efforts to raise homeless awareness and nearly $5000 for CCO. Many of our Team CCO runners have volunteered their time and energy at our shelter. In May, a large number of runners came to help assemble and install additional equipment on our rooftop playground. We are grateful for all they are doing for our residents!

We want to say a special thank you to the Resource Center and our local Whole Foods store for donating and delivering fresh flowers and delicious food to CCO each week. If not for the combined efforts of these great organizations the flowers and food would be put in a dumpster. Instead the flowers are arranged by volunteers and put on the tables to brighten our residents meal time. Thank you for this unique gift!
$7.76 will provide shelter, 3 nutritious meals and essential staff to a homeless mother and child for one day. For such a tiny amount of money, a family at CCO will receive the basic services needed to begin to stabilize and move forward towards permanent housing.
