At Cornerstone Community Outreach approximately 330 people are given safe shelter, nutritious meals, and supportive services every day. These critical services help those experiencing homelessness to move on to permanent housing.

Last year, the 20 Team CCO runners helped provide over 6,681 nights of safe shelter, more than 20,000 meals, and unlimited hope for families needing a fresh start.

Join Team CCO and find out the good you can do through your running, volunteer days, and fundraising. You do your part and we will do our part by giving you the training, support and information you will need to go 26.2 miles and fundraise for a great cause!

New Costumes Needed!

Costumes! Calling all costumes! Our 2016 Fall Frenzy is fast approaching and we need your new or gently-used costumes. The Fall Frenzy gives CCO children an opportunity to dress-up, play, enjoy treats, crafts, and a fun dance party in the safety of the CCO dining room.

Nearly 150 children are sheltered at CCO with their families. Help them have an outstanding fall costume party by picking up an extra costume or two when you’re at the store or donating last year’s costume!

If you would like to help in this way please email Corey at corey@ccolife.org or Beth at bnicholls@ccolife.org.

2016 Marathon Album! Get Inspired!

Commitment, motivation, and inspiration are just a few of the words that describe  Team CCO at this year’s Bank of America Chicago Marathon! Every member of the team “wowed” us with their commitment to crossing the finish line. They motivated us to support homeless services and inspired us to give! We want to extend our deepest thanks to each member of the team who endured 26.2 miles to help families and individuals who are sheltered at CCO. Every step you took brought someone closer to permanent housing.  You have truly inspired us!

We also want to thank the support team who cheered everyone on at the Charity Block Tent. Your encouragement kept the team on the road to the finish line!

Are you inspired? Registration for the 2017 Chicago Marathon is open from October 25 – November 29, 2016. Contact Andrew at teamcco@ccolife.org or visit the Team CCO page to request more information. Not a runner? It’s not too late to give to the team that supports those sheltered at CCO. Visit the Team CCO CrowdRise page by clicking here.

Run for Shelter!

Team CCOIt’s only 4 days until the 13 members of Team CCO step over the starting line at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon! Members will be running 26.2 miles  to make a difference for those sheltered at CCO! Now that’s commitment! You can help alleviate homelessness by donating today.

Since it origins, Team CCO has raised over $66,000 through the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, Half Marathon, Shamrock Shuffle, Triathlon, and Mud Run. These dollars have helped provide nutritious food, safe shelter, and supportive services to families and individuals experiencing homelessness. Donations made through Team CCO have helped those sheltered at CCO to move from homelessness to housing.

Are you Experiencing Homelessness?

Park BenchAre you experiencing homelessness? If you are in the City of Chicago, call 311 and let the operator know that you are homeless and in need of shelter. Let them know if you have children in your care and/or a spouse. If you are not able to make a 311 call, go to the nearest hospital emergency room, police station, or fire department. Once you are at one of these locations inform staff that you or your family need shelter. They will arrange for Department of Family and Support Services driver to take you to a shelter with available space.

You may feel alone but know that many people have been in your situation and made it through to safe shelter and housing. Getting help is the first step.
