Run for Shelter!

Team CCO went the extra mile to help alleviate homelessness at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon! It’s not too late to donate. All the funds raised by Team CCO goes directly to support homeless families and adults at CCO!
We are impressed and grateful to every one of the Team CCO marathon runners who trained, fundraised and raised homeless awareness for Cornerstone families and single adults! We also want to thank everyone who joined us in the Charity Block cheer tent! Of course, we can’t forget all those who donated to CCO through our fabulous runners! This year, over $12,000 was raised to help alleviate homelessness in Chicago. If you’d like to make a donation today, visit our Team CCO Marathon page here.
These dollars represent practical help that will go toward nutritious meals, safe shelter, supportive services, and other essential needs for those sheltered at CCO.

Thank you, Hunger Walkers!

33rd Annual Hunger Walk!

Nearly 50 volunteers walked 3.1 miles at this year’s Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD) Hunger Walk. CCO staff, volunteers, and supporters came together to fight hunger in Chicago. Their efforts produced 11,000 pounds of food for families and individuals sheltered at CCO.

Each step increased CCO’s food allowance with the GCFD, which in turn, will go toward nutritious meals for our shelter guests, food pantry patrons, and dinner guests. Thank you to everyone who joined us at this fun event!

The Bears brought the Holiday Party!

The holidays give a chance to celebrate each person who came through the doors of Cornerstone over the year and previous years. Today, Chicago Bears player Sam Acho and his teammates, with matching donations from The Chicago Bears, sponsored the parties for both the men and women at Cornerstone.

It was a great party, with food from Jewel Foods, Papa Johns and Aldi, and each person gets gifts of new items to help them out, from socks to hats, and everything in between. Thank you so much for your awesome support.

Ready for Presents!

Over 120 children and youth are sheltered with their parents at CCO, during the holidays and all throughout the year. You, as a donor, volunteer, and supporter have always been a valuable part of making the season bright for each and every child.

The giving doesn’t stop with the families. The residents of our single women and single men’s shelters are no less important. Each program celebrates with a festive party that includes decorations, a delicious holiday meal and gifts. Everyone is valued and no one is left out.

Help us make the Holiday Season shine at CCO! Consider donating new toys, teen presents, or items for our single adults. Don’t like shopping? You can help by making a financial gift that will allow our Christmas volunteers to provide presents for families who arrive at CCO a day or two before Christmas.

Contact Eve at eve@ccolife.org if you would like to help us this Holiday Season.

Together, the team has raised over $17,000 for CCO families and single adults. All money raised bring those experiencing homelessness one step closer to stable housing. Back-to-School Bash Photo Album!

CCO’s Annual Back-to-School Bash was a huge success! Families sheltered at CCO enjoyed dancing, music, pizza, cake, prizes, face-painting, and more. All school-aged children chose a new backpack, from a wide-range of styles, provided by the Northeastern Illinois University Alumni Association (NEIU). NEIU has provided and distributed backpacks and school supplies at the Back-to-School Bash for years. Thank you, NEIU!

Student volunteers from Uptown Christian School (UCS) set-up the room, served food, decorated, cleaned, and reassembled the dining room. The teens were willing, fun, and amazingly helpful. Thank you, UCS!

Education is a critical stabilizing force in the lives of homeless children. We are privileged to partner with our area school teachers and administrators to ensure that the children sheltered at CCO have the best education possible.

Consider making a donation today that will directly support the families sheltered at CCO. Thank you!

Happy Birthday to You!

Happy Birthday to you! Did you know that CCO staff and volunteers bake, ice, decorate and deliver a birthday cake to each child who has a birthday while sheltered at CCO? It’s true! And mom and dad are given wrapped gifts for the birthday boy or girl. It’s a truly sweet way to encourage the kids at CCO.

We need your help! We are looking for CCO supporters who would like to purchase new cake mixes, icing, and decorations (candles, sprinkles, etc) to make sure the birthday elves are never short of supplies. If you are interested in giving in this way contact Eve at eve@ccolife.org. Thanks!
