Driving Through the Blowing Snow

Epworth Men's Run

CCO men heading to the Epworth Church where they sleep each night.

Blowing snow and frigid temperatures this week means that CCO staff embarked on many evening runs in a large maxi van. Since last Sunday, staff have been driving our men’s shelter guests from CCO to Epworth Church where they sleep every night. In the daytime, the men meet with their case workers and have meals in the main CCO buildings.

Consider donating to CCO and being a part of the good things that are happening (no matter the weather) here! Thank you!

Blankets for men

Tzu Chi Foundation of Chicago generously donated a large number blankets to the CCO men’s overnight shelter. Each man sheltered in our men’s program got a new blanket with some left over for future use.

During these cold months, warmth is a wonderful gift. Thank you!

Epworth Shelter History, Part One…

Epworth Shelter, mats in the gym“In the dead of winter, 65 homeless men were left to wonder if they would continue to have their beds.”
Cornerstone Community Outreach Executive Director, Sandra Jean Ramsey, has written extensively about the history and day-to-day activities of our various shelters and shelter residents. Take a minute to read her thoughts on the opening of CCO’s Epworth Shelter for single men.
