We are excited about continuing along down the path to getting our childcare licensed! This picture is the beginning of us purchasing the remaining necessary supplies for us to open. A big THANK YOU to all who have donated to our childcare and have made this possibility a very near reality! Once our childcare is licensed, we will be able to provide care for the children of our residents between the ages of 2 and 6 while they are out at housing appointments, job interviews, doctor’s visit, or other important steps towards a successful future.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2012
Cornerstone Community Outreach was blessed by many volunteers the other day to help us celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day. A group from the Family Literacy Project of the University of Illinois hosted an event that featured games and reading along with books and t-shirts for the kids to take with them. One of our case managers walked around showing off a picture of her and MLK from when she was a child as she shared stories about MLK and what he stands for. In addition, students from Mather High School and Uptown Christian School came to help serve a meal in the kitchen and to organize some of our donations. These projects and people combined made for a wonderful day! Thank you to all who were involved!
Beautiful Mural Painted By Local Agency
A group from a local agency called Alternatives came and painted this beautiful mural titled “The World Is Your Playground” for our roof top playground. It is a lively addition giving the playground used by our young residents a new brightness. Thank you so much!! This is a great beginning as we prepare to update the play space come Spring.
