“Hunt.Fish.Feed.℠, created by Sportsman Channel is a unique outreach program that taps an underutilized food source–game meat and fish donated by sportsmen–to feed those struggling with hunger across America.”
This year Hunt.Fish.Feed. cooked and served up venison and trout taco’s to our shelter residents. The trout was caught in Lake Michigan at the Salmon Unlimited Illinois Open at Northpoint, Illinois. We are grateful to all the men and women who donated their delicious catch to fill our residents with good food!
The staff and residents of Cornerstone Community Outreach would like to extend an enormous, “Thank you!” to Senator Heather Steans! Senator Steans provided a brand new pair of shoes for each school aged child at CCO. That is over 100 pairs of brand new shoes! The children enjoyed choosing from the local Target (Uptown) store. The school year is starting off right! Thank you Senator Steans for your amazing generosity!
Cornerstone Community Outreach hosted a huge back-to-school event on Wednesday, August 15. Chicago Public School generously provided a new uniform and school supply kit for each of our school age children. Everyone enjoyed treats from Ann Sathers provided by Alderman Tom Tunney. A new toy, face painting and pizza got everyone in the party mood! Kuumba Lynx, a young adults dance troop, pumped up the volume with live poetry and dance performances. Alderman James Cappleman attended the event and encouraged the children to have a great school year. He expressed his appreciation for the parents who live at CCO and the services the shelter provides. The Cat-in-the-hat made a special appearance and encouraged the kids to do their best in the coming school year. The children of CCO each got a new pair of shoes for the upcoming school year thanks to Senator Heather Stearns. We want to say a special thanks to everyone who made this event special! Thank you!
