NSYC Volunteer Night (Nov. 18th, 2012) from Josh Hiben on Vimeo.
You might be asking yourself what is Giving Tuesday? We’ve had Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday but a new tradition has begun, Giving Tuesday. The intention behind Giving Tuesday is to bring the needs of others into focus after a holiday weekend that has consuming at it’s core.
Will you consider giving to the work of CCO this Giving Tuesday? Your donation will insure that we can provide shelter and supportive services to everyone who comes through our doors.
You can Donate Now by clicking the button above.
Thank You!
Throughout this week we have been posting “leaves of gratitude” from our Sylvia Center family shelter residents.“We are so thankful!” This may be a surprising statement to hear from someone who is homeless and living in a shelter over the holidays but we are witnesses to the resilience and determination of our residents. We are grateful to see them rise up each day and try to take steps toward self-sufficiency and stable housing. We are grateful to be able to help them in their journey and we are grateful to you, our donors, for giving us the support we need to carry on with this critical work.
Consider giving a gift this holiday that would provide safe shelter, warm meals and supportive services for a homeless family or individual. Thank you!
The traffic will be horrendous and the lines will be endless! Skip Black Friday madness and give a gift that really counts. From the comfort of your own home you can donate to the crucial work of CCO.
How much to give? It costs:
-$1.17 per day to provide 3 nutritious meals to a homeless individual
-$1.23 per day to provide overnight shelter to a homeless individual
-$2.40 per day to provide overnight shelter and 3 nutritious meals to a homeless individual
-$3.88 per day to provide essential staff, overnight shelter, and 3 nutritious meals to a homeless individual
-$9.09 per day to provide support staff, essential staff, overnight shelter, and 3 nutritious meals to a homeless individual
-$14.79 per day to provide Full Interim Shelter, including all of the above to a homeless individual
Your donation dollars will do a lot of good this holiday season! Join us in making a difference. Thank you!
The residents and staff of the Sylvia Center shelter for families have put together a Thankfulness Tree. We will be sharing some of the “leaves” of gratitude with you throughout the week. Enjoy…
“I am thankful I have Someone I can trust.”
“I am thankful for my friends and family.”
“I’m thankful to my mom for taking care of me.”
Our newsletter are going on-line! By clicking on the link to the right and entering your e-mail address in the box found in the upper right-hand corner of our website, you will begin receiving our e-newsletters.
Because CCO’s work with the homeless is so critical we have always operated with very little overhead. However, we are pushing that commitment even further by moving more photos, success stories and current events on-line. This change will put even more of your donation dollars towards the betterment of our residents. An e-newsletter will cut printing and postage costs while reducing paper waste.
Thanks for joining us!
