Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday!Happy birthday to you! 14 children living at CCO have their birthdays in the month of April. Each month, CCO staff make sure parents get new gifts to give to their child on their birthday. Celebrations and milestones are important. And that is especially true during difficult or transitional times.

Our Mission…

Finding A Home

“Addressing homelessness, providing shelter, accepting people, finding home.”

Cornerstone Community Outreach has a long standing commitment to providing shelter and finding homes for families and individuals who are at the greatest risk of being excluded from necessary services.

It is our great privilege to work alongside homeless families and individuals to find and secure stable housing. We are grateful to all those who volunteer or support our shelter guests. Thanks you!

Autism Awareness

April is Autism Awareness Month. We would like to honor and celebrate the families and individuals who reside at CCO with Autism. And we are grateful to the knowledgeable agencies that we network and collaborate with on behalf of our shelter guests with special needs.

What A Difference!

A picture is worth a thousand words. As you can see, Clifton Avenue has undergone some enormous changes over the years. Our shelter residents, staff and neighbors have reaped the benefits of these improvements. Multiple renovations, new awnings, plants and decorative containers all make the outdoor space around the shelter more attractive and functional.

Would you like to get involved? We are planning to install festive outdoor banners on our Hannah House building along Clifton Avenue. If you want to contribute to this exciting project send us an email at info@ccolife.org. Thanks!

200,000 Meals Served in 2012…

Meals at CCO

An estimated 200,000 meals were served from the CCO dining room in 2012. Shelter guests residing at CCO are offered 3 meals a day and each Saturday our neighbors in need are welcome to join in our Dinner Guest food program.

To many of us, food is such an routine and expected provision that we forget it’s importance. But for those who are hungry it is no small matter. Consistent, nutritious meals helps to stabilize moods and focus peoples attention on important tasks. It can help break people free of a survival mentality.

With your continued support we are able to serve meals that bring warmth and hope to our shelter guests and neighbors. Thank you for nurturing people in this way.

Do Good…

Pottery Supporting CCO...

Do good, while doing what you love…

Chicago potter, Chuck Escue has been donating 50% of the profits from his earthenware items to Cornerstone Community Outreach. We think it’s a beautiful combination of art and generosity.

If you are interested in purchasing Chuck’s wares you will find them at Citizen Skate Shop located at 920 W. Wilson Avenue in Chicago.

Thank you Chuck!

Valuable Volunteers…

Marine Corp Volunteers

In 2012, volunteers clocked in over 33,000 hours of service at CCO! Our volunteer groups come from Chicago and all over the United States and beyond.

We value our volunteers and rely on their hard work to keep meal times and important programs like Food Bags and the Free Store running smoothly. Are you interested in getting involved? Click on the ‘How to Help’ section to learn more.
