Remembered and Cared For…

Thank you to all the Christmas elves who worked day and night gathering, sorting, wrapping, and organizing donated toys so that everyone at Cornerstone felt remembered and cared for this Christmas. Thank you to all the staff, volunteers, and CCO Board Members who helped make everything come together for the families and nearly 150 children sheltered at CCO.

It’s not too late to give! Please consider making a donation that will provide safe shelter, nutritious meals, and individualized supportive services to the families and singles sheltered at Cornerstone.

Fall Frenzy Photo Album!

We want to say a huge thank you to all the staff, volunteers and donors who made the Fall Frenzy a fun celebration! The children and families sheltered at CCO enjoyed delicious treats, face painting, crafts, custom-made balloon creations, and dancing to their own special requests.

A group of very generous donors provided CCO children with new costumes. We owe a debt of gratitude to Francis Parker Elementary School, University of Chicago Laboratory Schools, the Law Office of the Cook County Public Defender, and St. Josaphat School. Together these outstanding organizations donated over 200 costumes. Families sheltered at CCO were able to shop through Ironman, Cleopatra, Hulk, Princess, and a wide variety of other options to find that special dress-up. Thank you!

CCO provides a safe space for nearly 150 children who are sheltered with their families. If you would like to help provide safe shelter, nutritious meals, and  intensive supportive services to the families and individuals sheltered at CCO consider donating today. I was wondering if you still had the food give away on Wednesdays, if not do you know how I can get a referral to a food pantry?
I have been off work for a month after getting hurt and have no income, things are getting pretty bleak and I could use some help.
I thought of Cornerstone because my son and I once stayed there and I have never forgot the kindness you showed him and I.
Thank you”

The answer is Yes!
Because of your food donations and financial contributions, Cornerstone does.  The doors open at 9:30 and we distribute till around 11:30.  Almost 300 people come each week to pick up donated food items.  Canned veggies, cereals, and fresh fruits and vegetables, and many various items of the day are given out.  You will see a line every Wednesday morning of people waiting for us to open.  It is a blessing to be able to help those in need.
